All Roads Lead to Rome

Spring 2022

Is it only me who just knew that proverb “banyak jalan menuju Roma” is translated to “all roads lead to Rome” ?? This time, I came by night train from Venice to Roma Termini (biggest station in town). Such a massive station for underground, train, plus bus. It has 3 or 4 floors in total.

Fontana di Trevi (beware this is Italian, not bahasa Indonesia ahaha)

First visit was to Trevi Fountain or Fontana di Trevi, just couples underground’s stop away from the Termini. Luckily, we arrived pretty early in the morning when only few people are there. Otherwise, this outstanding fountain becomes very crowded. Unluckily, people don’t touch and swim in the water area. If so, that won’t be so much crowded.

Pantheon with massive pillars

Next stop: Pantheon. Not much I can say here, because I have no idea about its history hehe. Kindly tell me if you know something about this place! But one magical thing is, you can find super historical and touristic site in the middle of “normal” neighbourhood, with their small alleys. Imagine you have Borobudur temple situated in your small RT…

I let your imagination goes crazy again. Just imagine the encounter with a huge palace in the paved junction, not betonized road. I was very surprised when I just came out from one of the mouse-sized junction and witnessed this Vittorio Emanuelle II Monument.

Unluckily, the moving air wasn’t strong enough to make the Italian flags fly

Trip to Rome isn’t complete without visiting Colosseum, which located not far from Vittorio Emanuelle II Monument. Perfectly walkable route for tourists, even though a bit hot in the summer. What a massive monument! Obviously its architect has a great Curriculum Vitae for their next job…

Must-do activity when visiting a landmark

Next to Colosseum is Roman Forum where is situated at the same complex. So, there are available ticket packages for both sites.

After we looked at the old stadium aka Colosseum, now we take our sight to the new stadium. Yes, Olimpico stadium is in the house! This is where you can find Jose Mourinho showcases his expertise at the home of AS Roma (Lazio as well).

Buona sera, Jose! Would you like a slice of pizza?

You can also step into the smaller “open” stadium beside the Olimpico. I guess the sculptors worked really hard to complete all statues that surround this stadium. Just look at the detailness level of every sculpture.

What a unique stadium!

Rome leaves a nice vivid memory to me till now with her authentic beauty. Italian say “arrivederci!” or “until we meet again!”

Arrivederci!
